Hey guys (and gals) :) Kian Ming is back in town soon for his summer break, and he has suggested that we could possibly host a simple get-together with interested readers of our vibrant little blog. We could meet face-to-face, stick faces to familiar names, have our teh tarik, chat about silly things we write on our blog, talk anything education (or not).
We are looking at the evening of Friday 30th June, or possibly the next day on Saturday 1st July. Depending on the number of people who intends to turn up, we will probably pick a nice mamak stall somewhere around Kuala Lumpur.
To get a better gauge of the number of people interested, especially to determine the location and date, please do send me an email, with your preferences if any. Come nearer that date, I'll put up the full details of the meet like the time, venue and etc.
Looking forward to meeting up with you guys then!

anyone can join?
how about somehwere at PJ, near UM or UTAR. more university students can join then. KL is not a good idea...traffic jam everywhere.
hey Chang,
Anyone as long as they are visitors to this blog ;-p
Also, it's not likely to be "in" KL, but around it e.g., Bangsar, Sri Hartamas, DU etc.

one question: is this a small informal get-together (<10 pax) or a big meet-up event. reason i asked is cause anon above suggested a more strategic location so that university students can attend. if so, i'm guessing no less than 20 people will attend.
That's why I asked people interested to let me know. That way I can figure out the best location based on the number of people coming. Obviously if there are more than 20 people, the venue will not be at a tiny mamak stall, for example.
Tony P
hmm.. maybe u need to have different sessions..
Wonder if Tony will put up with the bill?
If Tony agree with Anon 06:25:36 PM, i'm sure there'll be a huge crowd...typical Malaysians mah, free food where can resist one....hehe
come on tony...dont be kedekut to blanja1 After we all support your blog like crazy making it no 1 in Malaysia!
Cappucino at coffee bean cheap....
I suggest we meet at starbucks carrefour subang jaya. Carrefour there got lot of free parking
Is Bill Board Hashim ( former UM VC )invited?
Wah... pushing it man! Where got no. 1 in Malaysia?
If I do well in the World Cup til then, of course no problem-lah. Otherwise, i'll be collecting appearance fees instead! ;-p
Tony P
..maybe tony should work overtime in the shuffling numbered tiles rounds to subsidise all you coffee-drunken sharks out there..help do some economics numbers for him..bet he may start to get worried on break-even figures..
count me in. i've lived in pj for 3 years (near tony's new office) and like kian ming worship in fbc. this may be the 1st chance i'll have to meet both of you in person. Manhon
wow looks like you are the latest idol in kl - pj town lah
have you got american idol, mr. taylor's cult - like cool dancing moves?
come on Tony! You are as popular as your blog. Kasi belanja Cappucino at StarBucks and we can the night away bashing away the politicians.
You are very famous among the University Malaya undergraduates. Your blogs are becoming hot topics for discussions everyday.
What is RM20 anyway???
Is this incessant proding for free drinks at coffee bean and starbucks a reflection of how prevalent and endemic the "what can you give me?" / "subsidy" mentality is amongst malaysians?
Dear anon [Fri Jun 09, 12:34:56 PM] above me, I hope you are merely jesting. If the idea of meeting up and sharing common interest is insuffient to draw you; that you require a RM20 coffee "scholarship" to make it worth your while; you probably fall outside the target group for this event :-)
To quote you, "Afterall, what is RM20 anyway?", when we are talking about improving education of all Malaysians and the future of our children and our children's children.
BTW, Tony suggested teh tarik and mamak stall... not Starbucks :-)
yeah, i agreed with what mh mentioned above. how bout we meet up at Kayu (PJ), next to Chow Yang?
Tony lives at Medan Damansara... near Bangsar la... very far to go PJ ....
To anon @ Fri Jun 09, 12:34:56 PM,
I suppose you're at UM ? UM is near Bangsar... can laaa
Nice time u posted btw..

YOU ARE GREAT!!
Er... can meet at a place where a Cheras boy like me is able to find?
I may get lost in PJ.
YUanWu.
Count me in if time permits. Suggest around PJ-State with lots of parking after office hrs at mamak store near HSBC...
UM taught some of you guys well man! The extent of sweet talk and currying favour you guys go to just to get a free mug @ Starbucks! :)
And I think there are some serious stalkers among the readers out there Next, I'm going to get my house phone number published here!
I'll post the map up for those not familiar with the area once the venue has been decided nearer that date. :)
how abou A&W opposite amcorp mall building, next to Taman Jaya LRT station. Plenty of parking space (>300 cars). but then again, i am just wondering here if Tony need to apply for a permit from the police to organise the "meet up" event...hehe.
count me, in.
ST
how about Tai Thong Restaurant? and have karaoke too...it will help to break the ice
I love Lobo's " How can I tell her?)
Hmm.. it seems that there are a lot of nonsensical suggestions here...
Tony, perhaps you need to host a few sessions ... get the people to pay on their own... What is RM1.20 for a cup of teh tarik anyway?
I am one of your many "silent" readers. Now if I can get to meet u guys in person, then I'll be happy to join u all for a cuppa and chat....so that we can all dream of what things can be and ask the question, "Why not?".
Cheers, Tony and my e-mail's on the way to u.
Hey,
No need a few sessions lah. This's not a formal thingie - not forming a political party here ;-p
Also guys, don't have to be that serious-lah. I think the guys asking for a cuppa are just being cheeky.
;p Tony P
so will it be Bangsar? or hartamas?
Tony,
Please make up your mind where the venue is!
Too many guesses.....
May I recommend the venue be Ravis Gazebo at Subang Jaya...lots of space, food and easy access by taxi buses and commuter
If not at Restoran Ipoh Chicken ( non halal) at Jln Gasing
Ipoh Chicken at Jln Gasing is very good. ...please...please...let's go there, ok.
OK!! We all agree then. By unanimous decision, the gathering will be at Ipoh Chicken Restaurant, Jalan Gasing
Ipoh chicken rice is only for lunch and dinner and due to crowd they don't like people who over stay...
choosing a non-halal shop is also "discrimatory"..
clk, u r right - Non-halal food is not a good idea if this is going to be a friendly chat.In any event, I heard the IMU Dean said that eating the "just cooked" chicken is definitely NOT a good idea in view of the bird flu threat......
So Tony, just choose a place with good parking facilities, airconditioned and lots of food.....
Do you think having a gathering during WORLD CUP is a good idea? Nobody would be in the mood to hear you talk as they will be bz looking at Ronaldinho in action....
Tony,
Arent you a bit worried that our big brothers from KDN might be joining our gathering and recording everyone there?
We might find ourselves next day on a slow boat to China?
Quite a KL (WP) centric crowd here.
Tony - bring your laptop - bluetooth-wireless-3G or Edge Card - install Skype and a webcam to your laptop - People elsewhere could also connect to this brick & mortal bunch during your meetup.
Get the media involve, ask Starbucks to sponsor the drinks & titits in lieu of the publicity generated. The angle I am sure you know how to handle that bit.
-- Old Man.
wa.. thats the smartest idea suggested so far !
how about Raju's Place? the banana leaf rice place in Jln Gasing?
how about Raju's Place? the banana leaf rice place in Jln Gasing?
No! No! No!
Not Raju's Place! There was some scandal regarding its cleanliness a few years back as reported in the papers! It makes my tummy squirmed thinking of the incident
Old Man! You are brilliant!
Go! Tony! Go!
hmm... what about brj and zatimanis near menara alpha and wangsa maju lrt? a lot of mamak stalls in that street. but quite congested esp during the world cup season. ;(
With so many suggestions, why don't we just it leave it to Tony to decide the venue?
For the moment I would suggest to Tony to find out how many of us here are really interested in attending the event. Perhaps an email direct to Tony would help him plan the venue?
Tony! Why are you keeping quiet? We are eagerly waiting for your next command!
