The U.S. Embassy in Kuala Lumpur and the Malaysian American Commission of Educational Exchange (MACEE) will jointly host a “USA Fair” on Sunday, May 6, at the Menara Yayasan Tun Razak, 1st Floor, No. 200, Jalan Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur, from 10.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. The fair is free and open to the public. Special door prizes will be awarded, including a free airplane ticket on Malaysia Airlines and vouchers for discounted travel.

For those who are interested in getting an education in the United States, the USA Fair will provide answers to all your queries. You will be able to learn more about:
  • Four-year undergraduate study programs in the U.S.
  • American Degree Program transfers and twinning programs which allow you to work toward a U.S. degree right here in Malaysia
  • graduate education
  • “summer work and travel” programs which allow you to earn up to RM20,000 in 14 weeks, and then travel in the U.S. for up to a month
  • High school exchange programs
  • Financial aid and scholarships
  • The U.S. visa process
Great opportunities such as working as a camp counselor or au-pair, as well as professional internships are available – all the details will be at the fair! U.S. visa officials will be on hand to help guide you through the visa process and answer any visa questions you might have.

Let's spice it up then...

Hitler has only got one b*ll,
Göring has two but very small,
Himmler is somewhat sim'lar,
But poor old Goebbels has no b*lls at all

Regarding bullet #4, I really have my doubts regarding the advertized amount of $20,000/= in 14 weeks of "Summer work and travel program", assuming it is in US dollars.

It works out to about $3,000/= biweekly "income" which is the usual pay schedule, and about $74,000/= per annum when most starting pay for college graduates hovers around $30,000/=, except for some very elisitst programms like Harvard graduates who may garner close to $80,000/=.

Therefore I think some realoty checks are in order here so that prospective applicants would not be unduly swayed by buoyed expectations.

say lee, it is RM not USD. which makes up to abt USD$10/hr (assuming full-time 40hr/week jobs), which also means minimum wage for most states.

That would make better sense to me. Thanks for the clarification. As a matter of fact, the Federal min wage in US has just been revised upward to about US$8 per hour, and most states are slightly lower. So that would sound about right for an undergrad.

Canada pays a higher minimum wage.

OFF TOPIC

TP, Did you read today's Star?

It seems the clever Ars* Hol** in the Education are now considering abolishing UPSR and PMR!

Wow! This is great! Another brick taken off to degrade our education system!

In the end, the scenario will be NO EXAMS from UPSR. PMR, SPM. STPM and Universities......:))

This is the logic and extension of the education fiasco going on this country!

Wat say u TP??

First, you guys accuse Singapore of using scholarships to "steal" Malaysian "talents".

Now you organise a fair to help USA steal your Malaysian "talents" with scholarships.

Wonderful double speak (and standards) Malaysians.
