Bogus PhD confirmed

Well, our suspicions have been proven correct. We first highlighted this issue here and Malaysiakini has confirmed it here. The BN candidate for the Permatang Pauh by-election, Arif Shah, was indeed enrolled in a bogus PhD program. Too bad the Malaysiakini article didn't highlight that we first brought it up here, thanks to Sree's sharp eyes. Also, in the same Mkini article, he said that he obtained his diploma from the Federal Institute of Technology in KL so there goes the 'fact' that he studied in NTU in Singapore. I think this points to a larger problem with UMNO and perhaps the BN, that politicians are increasingly pressured to have degrees so much so that they feel they have to go out and buy one. Really sad.

It should be NU instead of NTU... he was allegedly graduated from Nanyang University...

Nanyang University (NU) closed shop after 25 years of "business" and (rather forcefully) merged with Singapore University (SU) to become National University of Singapore (NUS)...

The original campus of NU then was taken over by a new (government-mediated with oppose to NU's people-mediated) institute, called Nanyang Technology Institute (NTI) in 1981... NTI was then upgraded to Nanyang Technology University (NTU) by 1991...

And thus, by theory, the only link between NTU and NU was that they shared the same campus ground...

One NTU lecturer jokingly asked, "Since when NTU is already 50 years old...?" back in 2005 when NTU was celebrating its 50 years annivesary... (NU opened shop in 1955)

Oh my.. Maybe he should have just gone without his bogus degree.. But these diploma mills only survive because the public place too much emphasis on paper qualifications.. In his case, his constituents seem quite happy with his work.. So, maybe he did not need to get the fake degree at all..

We have politicians who want to have graduate degrees. What is the value of education besides the certificate or title when one cannot think beyond race and one's own religion imposing one's value onto another rather than respecting diversity. If the educated cannot even hold a discussion on a subject matter (be it religion or quota) without the "educated" protesting, what society do we have? One that is held ransom by the extremists in our community....progress and developed by 2020?

Any one wants to buy my genuine PhD degree from Britain? I have no use for it. Highest bidder wins

I am ashamed whenever I have visitors asking me "Why is it that your academia have a DR in their prefix when they already have a Prof title".

This political professorship is so casting doubt on our academic standing. Even without these bogus degrees.

You shd explain to the visitors not only we hv DR but also CAPTAIN, DATUK, PROFESSOR, INGENEUR TAN SRI before the name. The longer the merrier...

Rest be assured, monkeys will always be monkeys no matter what prefix and suffix in terms of degrees and honours awarded
