Supergirl's World Peace Mission

Hey all, apologies for the long silence and thanks to Kian Ming for holding the fort. I've been travelling the past week - Macau, Hong Kong, China and Singapore in under 4 days - and spent yesterday recuperating and catching up with work in the office. Well, I'm back, and lets get started with a quick update on Suzanne Lee, our very own supergirl highlighted earlier here.

As she has mentioned in her interview with The Sun earlier, Suzanne is going on a "World Peace Mission". While she isn't likely to stop the war in Iraq or resolve the conflicts in Darfur or Middle East, her venture is a significant, albeit symbolic step to promote world peace.

Come August, Suzanne will be in a mission as a photographer with a pilot to fly solo around the globe using a single engine propeller aircraft. They will be carrying a peace petition to obtain signatures from some 150 world leaders (including the South Pole!) to be handed over to the United Nations. You can actually obtain more information from Suzanne directly at the Photokaki forum.

The mission has received the support from the Malaysian Government, with the Prime Minister the Honorable Datuk Seri Abdullah Badawi as the Patron of the project alongside Datuk Azalina Othman as the Project Advisor and Datuk Sri Syed Hamid Albar as the International Affairs Advisor.

They will work alongside the Government of Malaysia, UN, UNICEF and an assortment of other NGOs. At the same time, the completion of this flight will also set new aviation records including, the longest flight route using a single engine aircraft.

Well, so for those of you who thinks that her ability to go travelling round the world is because she was born with a silver spoon, think again. I'm sure most of you out there will agree that Suzanne is serving as a perfect example for the maxim 'when there's a will, there's always a way'. Carpe diem indeed. :)

Thanks to Tiara for the links and update.
